Lilian Millers

I'm a game developer, working mostly on Unity. I've studied film music and I've been interested in game making since I was young.

I particularly enjoy making connections between the art that comprises a game and its systems. I take pleasure in creating tools that facilitate game production and setting up systems and pipelines that will drive the project until its release.

I have a particular affinity for 2D games, souls-like games, physics-based experiences, hardcore gaming, and dark/cryptic universes. I'm drawn to games that offer a strong gameplay experience and showcase original artistic expression.

​

In addition to my work as a game developer, I am a co-founder of Mazurka Studio, an indie game studio that is currently working on its first indie game, "DARUMA."

Work experiences

2023 June- Now

Working at SunnyLab as Game Developer.

2022 - Now

Working on the first Mazurka Studio indie game "DARUMA" as co-founder/game director.

In early 2022, the project "DARUMA" was born from a game jam entry. I collaborated with 2D artist Antoine Perrenot and sound artists Victor Malcey & Valentin Petiteau to create the game prototype. Currently, the game is in production, and we have come together as Mazurka Studio.

2021 Sept - 2023 June

Working at Slowmo studio as gameplay programmer.

I'm gameplay programmer at Slowmo Studio. My responsibilities include developing games from concept to publishing, either as a solo developer or in a small team. While project timelines are short, games are often focused on a single gameplay concept. I handle ideation, prototyping, release, advertising, and publishing.

2019 - 2021

Freelance composer, sound designer and sound integrator.

During my master's degree, I started working as a freelancer. I worked on various projects such as original short films and student works as a sound designer, composer, or sound integrator. Currently, I am focusing on game development and technical art. While I still integrate sound into games and create sound effects, I no longer compose music.

- Versatile developer : As a versatile developer, I have a strong knowledge of Unity and have experience working on a variety of projects. I'm used to work alone so I'm comfortable working on different aspects of game development, from core systems to UI, and I'm always eager to lend my help when I can. I'm thirsty for learning and willing to step out of my comfort zone.

- Gameplay programmer : Gameplay programming is a significant part of my experience, as I have worked on lots of hyper-casual game concepts. I'm used to prototyping games and iterating on the game experience.

- Sound integration : I enjoy integrating sound and interactive music into games and have even built some custom tools to work with Unity and FMOD. I written my master thesis on the music integration pipeline. Additionally, I'm used to work with sound engines and DAWs.

- Tools and pipelines : I really like making tools to improve production times and facilitate creation. I lack opportunities to create some, but I would like to be able to specialize in creating tools for UnityOn the DARUMA project, I was responsible for setting up all project pipelines, and I found it to be an enjoyable experience. I am eager for another opportunity to explore the creative process and push the technical boundaries of a project.

- Technical art : I'm constantly seeking to improve my skills in areas such as shader writing, particle systems, and rendering techniques. Through experimentation, I have developed modest experience with URP 2D and even built a custom render pipeline for DARUMA.

​

- Sound design and mix : I have learn during my studies to mix sound, and create sound effects. I don't practice enough but it's very useful for placeholder.

2019 - 2021

Master MAAAV - Lyon France

Master degree in Film scoring, sound design and mix.

During my master's degree, I gained valuable knowledge about professional projects. Through various projects, I further expanded my desire to pursue video game development. It was during these studies that I realized the connection between my passion for video games, music, and art in general. By integrating sound into games, I gained a deeper understanding of the systems that govern video games and was able to apply my coding skills to create my first games.

2016 - 2019

Musicology Jean Monnet - Saint Étienne France

Three-year university degree in Musicology.

During those years, I learned a lot about music history, music theory, and harmony. It was during this time that I became fascinated with classical music and discovered the works of Bach, Ravel, Debussy, and other musical aesthetics. This period was instrumental in shaping my sound and visual universe, which still influences my personal projects today. I also studied composition, orchestration and piano at conservatory.
